Crafting the idyllic e-commerce store isn’t easy, which is why Visualistan asked six experts including myself, Neil Patel, Matthew Barby, Al Mackin, Pete Campbell, and Bryan Adams what our strategy would be. It was a blast to put this together, and I’m excited to share the highlights with you! There are four cornerstones you have to perfect, including functionality, usability, design, and trust/security. Once that’s in place, let’s focus on the first biggie: the category page.
It should include a customer service bar, category title, feature banner, left hand navigation, a subcategory section, featured products, and copy. Of course, within each of these there are design elements to continue tweaking to keep up with preferences and trends, and the sheer quality of each will play a huge role in the success of your store. For instance, the copy needs to be simple to read, concise, and draw readers in. The feature banner should also be simple and high quality. See a theme here?
